Introduction
In the world of critical industries such as marine engineering, oil & gas, aerospace, and chemical processing, materials are constantly exposed to highly corrosive and extreme environments. Ordinary steels and even many stainless steels fail in such conditions due to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, pitting, or acidic attack.
Monel 400 (UNS N04400), a nickel-copper alloy with exceptional toughness, strength, and corrosion resistance, was developed to solve these challenges. With approximately 67% nickel and 23% copper, along with small amounts of iron and manganese, Monel 400 offers superior resistance to seawater, brine, hydrofluoric acid, and alkalis.
When manufactured into rods, Monel 400 becomes a versatile semi-finished product used in machining, forging, fastener production, pump shafts, valves, marine hardware, and defense applications. Governed by ASTM B164, Monel 400 rods provide a reliable, durable, and high-performance material across industries where safety, reliability, and corrosion resistance are critical.
