Modern industries such as oil & gas, marine engineering, desalination, and chemical processing demand materials that can withstand corrosive chloride environments while maintaining high strength. Traditional stainless steels like 304 and 316L often fail in such conditions due to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
To overcome these challenges, engineers increasingly rely on Super Duplex Stainless Steel S32750 (commonly known as 2507). The ASTM A276 specification covers bars and shapes of stainless steel, including the super duplex S32750 grade, ensuring consistency in chemical composition, heat treatment, mechanical properties, and dimensional tolerances.

Solution Annealing: 1020 – 1100 °C, followed by rapid quenching.
Stress Relieving: Not recommended (may reduce corrosion resistance).
Hardening: Cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only cold work.
Mechanical Testing: Tensile, yield, hardness, impact.
Corrosion Testing: ASTM G48 pitting test, ferrite balance.
NDT: Ultrasonic, radiography, dye penetrant.
Microstructure Analysis: Confirms 40–60% ferrite.
Dimensional Inspection: Ensures ASTM/ASME tolerances.
